Do HDMI cables need to be high speed? I know when the standard came out there was a big deal about not needing gold plated cables. I haven’t followed it very much anymore. [Reply]

That is not correct. Standard HDMI will not handle 4K. High Speed rating is needed for 4K. Then if you are a gamer and want 4K @ 120Hz or 8K @ 60Hz, you'll need an Ultra High Speed rated cable, also known as HDMI 2.1. [Reply]
