All the “Fire Toub” threads felt like bad juju to bump. Felt right to start this thread after today’s game.
Alex Forsyth had been knocked to the ground five times on placekick protection in the two weeks leading up to Sunday, and the Chiefs noticed and attacked that spot, leading to the game-deciding block.
Added in McAfee’s S tier breakdown of the blocked kick. It’s been a nice change of pace to see the national commentators shed the “it’s all luck!” narrative for the overwhelming praise they’re giving our scouting and special teams for this moment.
Didn't say it before, but thanks for posting this thread. About time STs got some love around here. And maybe, just maybe, we'll see a lot less nitwits calling for Toub to get fired every gatdanged GDT. One can hope, anyway.
Massive kudos to Toub and the STs for keeping the streak alive. [Reply]
Jets fans are actually upset that we signed their kicker from the practice squad. Apparently the Jets pulled him from the squad, he played perfectly, got praised by their ST coach, but the Jets never bothered to add him to their roster? Jets fans are not pleased. If he seamlessly fills in for Butker add another star to KC’s scouting and Toub’s legacy here.
The Jets, in an attempt to keep Shrader, did offer him a spot on the 53. He opted to go kick for an undefeated team, which is understandable. However, it probably will be only a 4-game gig in KC (until Butker returns). If he had stayed with the Jets, it might have turned into…
Toub still is overrated. We have given up several fake punts, kicked the ball out of bounds, fielded kicks inside the 10, and almost always have an illegal block or hold on returns.
Leo and George made great plays, and Leo blocked the kick. It's not like they weren't going to try and block it, and Toub said "actually guys, let's try to block it.." etc.
Sorry, but I love the blocked kick, but Toub has not been a high level STC for a while. I am sure that I am in the minority, but I am not a fan. [Reply]
