Oh I agree. Not pointing the finger at Jackson, just at studios that are willing to destroy IP for a possible quick buck. [Reply]
Does anyone else find themselves rooting for Sauron a bit in this? He’s evil as hell but has become a pretty well developed villain.
Also, I still don’t see much season to hate this show. The Harfoot/Stranger stuff always drags (and I think the showrunners have even recognized that in S2) but the Numenor and Sauron/Celebrimbor storylines work well. [Reply]

Either make it 15-20 episodes per season or give it to Peter Jackson and let him make a trilogy of it properly, one or the other, because this format isn't it. [Reply]
I finally finished the 2nd season. What a weird mess. They fucked up Tolkien's story something fierce. Just shit all over the storyline with no care for the cannon. Like the big baddie in the final episode? That wasn't supposed to occur in the timeline until over 3 generations later. Which just completely unravels the history. The Stranger shouldn't even be part of this Age at all. Elrond is over here making out with his eventual mother in law. Orc families. Tom Bombadil - Wizard Coach. And it goes on and on.

All that money, and this is it?
It's....not great.
I'm watching it with the thought of this is just an adaptation of Tolkien's works while using the same characters and roughly the same outline. It's too jarring trying to watch it knowing the characters are out of character (and times, in some cases), and the entire story covering the creation of the rings is just completely fucked.
It's like Bezos came off a four day coke bender, threw a billion dollars at Amazon Prime productions, and told them to make a Lord of the Rings story, but in THIS PARTICULAR way that he had a fever dream about. Think of it as the Superman movie that was supposed to have Nic Cage star in it if they had actually made it.
Durin going after Durin's Bane was pretty badass, though. [Reply]

Them not following lore doesn't really bother me. It's just that the story is shit lol. It's a jumbled god damn mess that doesn't give enough time to any of the storylines, because there are so many. [Reply]
