Does anyone have recommendations for home VPNs? I'm interested in protecting my privacy and remaining anonymous online. Are there VPNs that the resident CP IT gurus would recommend (that are also easy to use for someone not overly tech savvy?)

Thanks

Then don't use a VPN - it will not help.

However, if you are in a state that has ridiculous laws that make you verify your age to watch porn, I recommend Nord, Express, or Proton. I'm sure there are others that are reasonably priced.

I like Nord.

I've used torguard for years. They usually have a 50% off black Friday sale. Which makes it like $40 a year.

The app makes it a 1 click connect.

What would help with that?

Hard to answer that, without understanding exactly what you are looking to accomplish.

If you are wanting to engage in illegal activity, i'd recommend a VPN + secondary/"burner" device + utilize public internet.

If you are wanting to engage in illegal "nation state" activity, all of the above + get pretty far from your home base.

If you are wanting to look somewhat anonymous to advertisers, create a secondary email address + google/apple/whatever account, use a browser like "Brave" or Chrome/Firefox with their privacy settings ratched up to max, and move on with life.

Nothing illegal. Would just like to make sure that I would be safe from being doxxed or having private info getting out on the Internet.

Proton.

But I feel like Google is always watching. I notice how much they want the user to sign in, validate accounts on second devices, and more.

Gotcha. A VPN really won't help with that, but it won't make it "worse" if you use one.
