You could trade for Diontae Johnson. You extend him a year, convert salary to bonus, then his 10M dollar hit gets prorated for the games played in Carolina, prorated over two years, and can be pushed into a big roster bonus for 2025.

This would work.

Winning a 3rd in a row is a pretty massive deal. They've been so good at drafting and developing mid and later round picks, trading away a single higher pick isn't gonna blow up the future.
Fuck if they aren't.

They're absolutely winning ten fucking rings.

Are you familiar with a wide receiver who goes by the name of Skyy Moore?

Imagine thinking Mahomes will only win 10 rings. Pussy thoughts.

There is such a logical fallacy with the "don't go all in this year" crowd.

You're supposing that going all in precludes you from competing over the next 4-5 years. The argument is "going all in this year doesn't guarantee you anything!"

NEITHER DOES HOLDING RESOURCES FOR NEXT YEAR OR THE YEAR AFTER.

You could have key injuries in THOSE years, too. Your precious first and second round picks could be, oh I don't know... CEH and Skyy Moore.

The only guarantee you have is that Mahomes is currently healthy with an undefeated record, having already beaten multiple conference rivals.

Every week we win makes it more reasonable to pour resources into this season. And no, that doesn't mean you're mortgaging the future. You can do it savvily

Everyone talks like Veach's phone is ringing off the hook with teams trying to make a trade.

Odds are teams will wait until the last option to trade with KC unless we outbid other teams enough and Veach ain't the guy to do something crazy for the short term good of the team.

So that narrows it down to a longer term option which makes it even more complicated.

Johnson isn't signing a new deal here during the season. He's gonna want to get to FA, it would be malpractice for his agent to sign a deal like that.

Which complicates his trade value tremendously.

Yeah, you would like to resign him if you could, but giving up a 3rd for a rental isn't something they're gonna do.

I mean the Bills just traded for Cooper and it didn't cost them an arm and a leg. You can't pretend there haven't been options out there.
