is the Deandre Hopkins "playing through a torn MCL" just complete bullshit?

because he's out there practicing with no knee brace or sleeve of ANY kind

was that like a smoke screen that he doesn't need anymore? I've never torn an MCL or had any knee problems though so just guessing
