Nzoner's Game Room>It might be time to have a talk about Travis Kelce

He looks old and tired. I'm afraid we're seeing a very steep decline from one of the best TEs in NFL history.

I don't disagree, but its crazy that he was 16 yards shy of 1000 and that is considered lackluster. Relative to only HIS past performance. Just blows my mind how good he IS.

Kelce caught 93 passes for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 2023, but those numbers would have been higher if he hadn’t chosen to sit out the last game of the year rather than pursue a record eighth straight 1,000-yard season.

Partly as a result of sitting out that game, Kelce looked refreshed in the playoffs, recording 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdown while leading the Chiefs to the Super Bowl LVIII title.

In that game Kelce recorded his fastest speed as a ballcarrier during the last seven seasons, demonstrating that he has not literally or figuratively slowed down.

He reached that top speed of 19.68 mph on a crucial play. His 22-yard reception with 16 seconds left set up the Chiefs' game-tying field goal to help send the game into overtime.
Exactly, and look at the last game against the Bengals. At a crucial time, he made what was then, the play of the game, but it got called back b/c of a penalty.

Fellas, most players don't hit walls in-season unless it's an injury.

You see them in the off-season. When they have some down time, come a bit off their 'football form' and simply don't rebound to the same level.

Citing anything he did in February isn't terribly relevant because there's been an entire off-season in between. And that off-season is where you see real changes in what guys are capable of. Both ways.

Again, I don't think he's washed. I just don't think this is the best way of trying to keep miles off him. Don't have him out there running routes as a decoy or at half-speed for 80% of the game. Have him out there at 100% for half the game.

I just don't like the way we're trying to manage him. Because he absolutely looks different out there.

Not so. Not at all. Feb is relevant. Very much so.
