Tonya Roberts, one of Charlie's Angel's in the later years of the show's run.
I had the privilege of meeting John and chatting with him at Darryl Dawkins house in Marlboro NJ back in the 90's. Was pleasant and never knew he was tied to the Chiefs since this was pre internet boom.

When it comes to 80s sword/sorcery movies, there are three that I liked: the original Conan, Excalibur and Sword and the Sorcerer. All the rest of them were shit.

It's kind of a s*** movie. Honestly beastmaster was The Lion King before the Lion King existed. It's the exact same plot. The only thing that really makes it work is rip torn looks creepy enough to pull off the villain. [Reply]
Pretty much stole every role he had on the small or big screen.
Enormous roles from Roots, Good Times…
But most remember him as Mr McDowell, in Coming to America…
“They have arches, we have arcs!”
Dude grew up in Newark, went to Colorado St…. Can you imagine what a cultural shift that was for John? Holy cow. Gets shipped out of KC football for not being good, but gets into acting…
Massive presence…. And yeah, Beastmaster was sorta my first time with John Amos, and that movie was everything…. “She ain’t no slave girl!!!”
Die Hard 2! Big role.
He was just great and there’s a lot of reasons why he’s loved and remembered.
