My thoughts:
Jake Paul's only opening is that lunging jab. Most of the time he's not even looking when he throws it, so it's usually high and off-target. He misses a lot. His only other real attack is that looping right, which is also inaccurate. He connected solidly with it just a couple times. Mostly he just completely whiffed, once nearly throwing himself out of the ring. The only time he had Fury remotely in trouble was when Fury walked into a straight left.
He comes straight in; he doesn't seem to know how to work the angles at all. He doesn't seem to have any real combinations to speak of, other than that lunging jab followed by that looping overhand right. He threw a few body shots, but again, he didn't throw any combinations worth mentioning.
His defense is basically wrestling. Other than that, he just gets his hands up around his ears and looks at the floor. He doesn't even move his feet half the time; he just stands there blind waiting for Fury to hit him, then he reacts.
His footwork is amateurish. Often he's flatfooted, his movement is basic and not very quick. And again, he seems to only know how to go backwards and forwards.
He is tough; Fury is the far more gifted puncher, more of the technician, and should've knocked Paul out, imo. The fact that Paul survived without getting knocked down says something about his toughness, because he ate several dozen jabs and at least a dozen short uppercuts to the chin area and didn't go down once.
But if that's the extent of Paul's fighting ability, he could get knocked out in the first round. Even in the first 30 seconds. Tyson at his best was a technician; his accuracy was unnatural, along with his speed and his power in small spaces. Tyson also knows how to work all the angles. His defense was superb, and he was great and getting inside the reach of taller fighters and savaging the body. Tyson's combinations were multiple and brutally efficient.
But if Paul turtles up by putting his hands up around his ears and just stands there looking at the floor more than a couple times, Tyson will knock him out right there with a nasty combo of body shots and/or that patented uppercut.
I think Paul's only chance is to spend the first 6 rounds running away, because he doesn't have the defense to stand in the center of the ring with Tyson. He's going to have to use his youth to stay away from Tyson until he gets tired and slows way down.
But if he tries to stand in the middle of the ring and fight the way he fought Tommy Fury, he's going to the hospital.
The only way I see Tyson losing this fight is if that ulcer is still an issue and Paul lands a gut shot that exacerbates it. Otherwise, the only way Tyson loses this fight before the 5th round is if the fix is in.
I agree with this 100%. A couple of my thoughts, this shouldn't even last more than 30 seconds - minute. Jake Paul isn't good. Tyson will notice tendencies (such as dropping the hand while throwing the jab, or looking away) and just take advantage of his inexperience. I think if it lasts more than a round, the fix is in, and Tyson at his age, will get tired after a few rounds and "lose".
I'm just glad I don't have to pay for this B.S. if it is rigged. [Reply]

Yeah. The difference in skillsets is just massive. Like Grand Canyon separation. Paul is way out of his league. He shouldn’t be fighting at a pro level at all. If this were 45 yr old Tyson, Jake would probably end up in a coma. [Reply]

You’re probably right, I’m sure I’m just getting caught up in nostalgia and hype. If we get a halfway decent fight, that’s probably the best we can hope for. I just hope they actually show a little intensity and this isn’t all just a spectacle as some are suggesting. Either way, I’m actually going to watch it, so they have succeeded in that regard, because I haven’t cared about boxing in years. [Reply]

He stepped on his toe on purpose. The slap was an insult. Just trying to pysch each other out.
Like most here, I think if Tyson doesn't KO him by the 3rd round, his 59 year old body might betray his heart. I don't want him to go out getting KO'd by a content creator. [Reply]
